  We went to the Old Barn Farm at the end of March 09 and were very disappointed in the food. There was a large group of us, but I had prebooked the table with the pub, so we were expected. On going into the pub, I noticed how tired and shabby it was looking. The carpet could have done with a good clean and the tables and chairs had all seen better days. We sat down and was looked after by the one waitress that was attempting to cope with all the customers. This would have been fine on a quiet night, but there were 18 of us, plus another 4 customers sat in the restaurant all expecting to be served.We ordered our starters, the sharing platter and were promptly told that they were out of garlic bread, so these would not be included in the starters. Garlic bread is such a basic item, I was amazed that they appeared to have run out. When the starters arrived they were fine, tasty and hot. Next we placed our orders for our mains and were told that they were out of steak. The steak eaters chose another mains course and our meals were then delivered. 3 of the meals had to be returned as they were overcooked. The rest of the mains were okay. Finally we ordered puddings. Most of the puddings seemed to be accompanied by ice cream i.e fudge brownie with ice cream. Unfortunately when the pudding arrived, we were told that they had no vanilla ice cream and they had used raspberry ripple instead! None of us were very impressed with the fact that they seemed to be out of food, given that we had prebooked the table. We used to eat at the Old Barn Farm a few years ago and found it to be very good, unfortunately it has gone downhill with the passing of the years. I feel it badly needs updating and new managament in to run the place properly if they are to win back the custom they used to enjoy.
